The tour begins with a visit to the pre-Hispanic town of Socaire, which is well-known for its cultivated terraces. Then, we will go to the Altiplano, where the first thing we will do is visit the Miscanti Lagoon and Miñiques Lagoon, a habitat for waterfowl and mammals like foxes, culpeos (Andean foxes), and vicuñas. Next, we will continue on to the Talar Salt Flat (also known as the Aguas Calientes Salt Flat) and the Piedras Rojas (Red Rocks) overlook. From here we will see reddish volcanic rocks that will astound you with their shapes, along with the remarkable natural environment where they are located.
After this, we will go to the Atacama Salt Flat, the largest salt flat in Chile and the third largest in the world. Here we will explore the trails of the Chaxa Lagoon, which is a nesting place and habitat for three flamingo species found in Chile: the Andean, Chilean, and James’s flamingoes. Finally, we will go to the village of Toconao where we will visit the San Lucas Church and the town’s signature fruit orchards.
*The order of the places we visit is subject to change the same day of the tour.
*The pickup service included is nor carried out from/to accommodations located outside the urban area of San Pedro de Atacama, accommodations located at ayllus close to San Pedro de Atacama (Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor and Coyo) nor accommodations in the town of Toconao.
