With this shuttle service, we will enjoy a revitalizing bath in the Puritama Hot Springs, located at 30 kilometers of San Pedro de Atacama. Its waters born in the Andes mountain range, and reach high temperatures because of the closeness to volcanic materials. Then, the water flows to the surface in the Puritama River, creating eight natural pools, surrounded by hills and native vegetation.

The enclosure is set up with dressing rooms, bathrooms and terraces in every pool, and the average temperature of the thermal water is 33 °C.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which is the maximum altitude reached in this excursion?

The maximum altitude reached is 3500 m. For a good acclimation, our recommendation is to eat a light meal and drink lots of water the previous days to the excursion. Because of the altitude, we recommend leaving this tour for the end of your stay in San Pedro de Atacama.

  • What days of the year can I make this excursion?

This excursion can be made every day of the year, except for January 1 and December 25.

  • What kind of vehicles are used in this activity?

The vehicle will depend on the size of the group, having a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (or similar) for 18 people, or a Volare (or similar) for maximum 25 people.

  • How far in advance should I book the activity?

We receive bookings until 48 hours in advance. However, we have limited spaces and always are subject to availability, so our recommendation is to make the booking as far in advance as possible.

  • How much time do I have to use the hot springs?

From the 4 hours and a half that lasts the activity, approximately, you will use 2 hours tops to dive into the hot springs.

  • Which are the differences between Puritama and Puripobre Hot Springs?

In spite of the fact that both places are in the same river, Puritama is closer to the source of the hot springs, so you have hot and warm water. Besides, it is a thermal complex, so it has bathrooms and dressing rooms. For its part, Puripobre is farther away from the source of the hot springs, so you have warm and cold water, and it is not a thermal complex, so it has no bathrooms nor dressing rooms. Moreover, to access to Puripobre you have to make a 40-minute medium difficulty walk to reach the pools (not suitable for people with limited mobility), while in Puritama you can have easy access through walkways (suitable for all people).
