We will pick you up at your hotel to leave San Pedro de Atacama in a 45-minutes trip and start this tour that will take us to the Puripobre Hot Springs. We will begin an easy 30-minutes’ walk through a canyon with giant cactuses. We will make stops to take pictures, see the flora of the place and rest a little, because we will be walking (low intensity) in a place with an altitude between 2,500 and 3,000 meters. After that, we will have views of the Puritama River, where the volcanic groundwater natural hot springs are located. Then, you will walk for 30 more minutes to the second pool that we will visit. After having a good moment and relaxing in the thermal baths, we will walk back to the vehicle for 45 minutes, and then return to San Pedro de Atacama to end the activity.

*In this tour there’s no place for changing clothes, so we recommend you taking it using your bathing suit from San Pedro de Atacama.

*The pickup service included is nor carried out from/to accommodations located outside the urban area of San Pedro de Atacama, accommodations located at ayllus close to San Pedro de Atacama (Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor and Coyo) nor accommodations in the town of Toconao.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which are the differences between Puritama and Puripobre Hot Springs?

In spite of the fact that both places are in the same river, Puritama is closer to the source of the hot springs, so you have hot and warm water. Besides, it is a thermal complex, so it has bathrooms and dressing rooms. For its part, Puripobre is farther away from the source of the hot springs, so you have warm and cold water, and it is not a thermal complex, so it has no bathrooms nor dressing rooms. Moreover, to access to Puripobre you have to make a 40-minute medium difficulty walk to reach the pools (not suitable for people with limited mobility), while in Puritama you can have easy access through walkways (suitable for all people).

  • How much time do I have to use the hot springs?

From the 4 hours and a half that lasts the tour, approximately, you will use 45 minutes tops to dive into the hot springs.
