We will go out from San Pedro de Atacama to the south, going across the basin of the Atacama Salt Flat. First, we will visit Toconao town, its San Lucas Church and its old orchards. Then, we will go to the Atacama Salt Flat, the largest salt flat in Chile and the third one in the world. There, we will walk through the trails of the Chaxa Lagoon, habitat of the three flamingo species present in Chile: Andean, Chilean and James.
The trip goes on to the Altiplano, where we will visit the Altiplanic Lagoons, called Miscanti Lagoon and Miñiques Lagoon, placed at the foot of volcanoes and the Andes. Their unique color-scheme of intense blue and the company of beautiful vicunas, create a magic natural scenery. Finally, we will visit Socaire town, kown for its pre-Hispanic farming terraces.
*The beginning time of the tour may be at 6:00 am or 6:30 am, depending on whether it is made the winter or summer season, respectively. You will be able to see the time corresponding to the date as you advance in the booking process.
*The return time is approximate and changes every day according to the weather conditions, the conditions of the road and the rhythm of the group. The return will be one hour before and even one hour after the informed.

What are the differences between the standard tour and the superior tour?
The main difference between the standard tour and superior tour is the size of the group. While the standard tour has a maximum number of people that can reach 20 passengers, the superior tour has a maximum of 9 people. This fact increases the staying times in the places and reduces the waiting times to go from one place to another, considering that it is used a smaller vehicle. In addition, it improves the personalised service of the guide, giving more attention to the passengers’ requirements. On the other hand, the superior tour has a more varied meal service than the standard tour.
How far in advance should I book the program?
We receive bookings until 48 hours in advance. However, we have limited spaces and always are subject to availability, so our recommendation is to make the booking as far in advance as possible.

What kind of vehicles are used in this tour?
The vehicle will depend on the size of the group, having a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (or similar) or a Volkswagen Volare (or similar).

The maximum altitude reached is 4200 m. For a good acclimation, our recommendation is to eat a light meal and drink lots of water the previous days to the excursion.
