What to bring

  • A 40 to 70 liter backpack for all the circuit.
  • Waterproof jacket and pants (Gore-Tex of similar).
  • Polar warm clothes (Polartec or similar).
  • Thermal clothing (first layer).
  • Short and long sleeved T-shirts.
  • Waterproof mountain boots (must cover the ankle).
  • Technical mountain equipment (gaiters, harness, piolet and crampons).
  • Enough batteries (there is no energy to charge electronic devices in te road).
  • Flip-flops (for showers, rest and river crossing, it it were necessary).
  • Flashlight.
  • Towel.
  • Winter hat an d gloves for cold temperatures.
  • Cap to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Sun block.

Itinerary

Let's do some team work in this Ishinca and Tocllaraju climb of 5 days to reach the summits of the respective mountains, having beautiful images with snow-capped mountains, lagoons at the heights, and clean air of the Andes.


Day 1: Huaraz – Pashpa – Ishinca Base Camp.

We will leave Huaraz heading to the northern part of the Alley of Huaylas. You will pass by Patay on the way that will take you to Pashpa, at 3600 m altitude. Finally you will arrive at the Ishinca Base Camp where you will spend the night.


Day 2: Ishinca Base Camp – Ishinca Summit – Ishinca Base Camp.

You will have breakfast at 02:00 to start the day. After preparing the climbing equipment, you will ascend for 3 hours by a zigzag road to the Ishinca moraine. From this point, you will enter the glacier through which you will reach the summit of Ishinca, at 5530 m altitude. From this point you can see many mountains that exceed 6000 m in altitude. Afterwards, you will return to Ishinca Base Camp, by the same route, to spend the night.


Day 3: Ishinca Base Camp – Tocllaraju Moraine Base Camp.

After breakfast you will tidy up the camp to begin a 4-hour walk to the Tocllaraju moraine base camp, at 4900 m altitude. Here you can watch the sunset in the mountains and rest for the next day.


Day 4: Tocllaraju Moraine Base Camp – Tocllaraju Summit – Ishinca Base Camp.

The day will begin with breakfast at 01:00 and the preparation of the equipment. You will start the route with the 6-hour ascent to the Tocllaraju summit, at 6034 m altitude. Once at the top you will be able to clearly see the surrounding mountains such as Ranrapalca, Copa and Ocshapalca, among others. After a break to enjoy the landscape, you will return to Moraine Camp. After regaining energy, you will continue to the Ishinca Base Camp where you will end the day after 14 hours of activity.


Day 5: Ishinca Base Camp – Pashpa – Huaraz.

After breakfast and tidying up the camp, you will begin a 4-hour walk to Cochapampa Lagoon. Here you will take the bus that will take you back to Huaraz in 1 hour.
