Cocora Valley & Acaime Reserve Trek

You will start your Cocora Valley & Acaime Reserve Trek at the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Church and head towards the valley, from where you will begin a medium-level hike of approximately 3 km. You will pass by the famous trout farm where trout are farmed and where, on some occasions, you can see condors. From this place you will be able to admire the beauty of the landscape, the wax palms and the imposing "Morrogacho", while you pass by several cattle farms until you reach the entrance of the cloud forest, the buffer zone of the Los Nevados National Natural Park. You will cross this forest to reach the Acaime Reserve, while you appreciate the biodiversity of flora and birdlife that inhabits this ecosystem. Here you will learn the history behind the reserve and walk its trails while observing more than seven species of hummingbirds that live there. At the reserve you will enjoy a delicious lunch, after which you will return to the Cocora Valley, choosing between two available ways of returning: one is the ascent route to "Finca la Montaña", which is more difficult than the hike, due to the altitude and the conditions of the road. Then you will descend the mountain until you reach the palm forest in the Cocora Valley. The other option is to return by the same path previously used. Finally you will arrive at Salento, ending the tour.
