You will begin this Punta Arenas Full Day by heading 60 kilometers south of the city, where you will visit four historic sites and learn about the history of the first Chilean settlement in Magallanes.
You will visit Fort Bulnes, a Chilean fort located on the shores of the Strait of Magellan, founded on September 21, 1843, on the rocky hill of Punta Santa Ana, under the mandate of President Manuel Bulnes Prieto.
You will also visit the Visitor Center and the Geographic Landmark (Mitad de Chile), before heading to Puerto del Hambre, also known as the city of King Felipe. Following the discovery of the Strait of Magellan in 1520 by Hernando de Magallanes, this passage became an essential route for ships connecting Europe with the Pacific coast of the Americas, making it the first place to attempt to populate the northern shore of the strait. Today, the ruins of this site and Fort Bulnes are part of Rey Don Felipe Park, in the area known as Punta Santa Ana.
After having some time for lunch (not included), the tour will continue visiting the city of Punta Arenas, where you will see some of the most famous places, such as the Punta Arenas Waterfront, the Municipal Cemetery, the Ovejero Monument, the Nao Victoria Museum, the Cerro la Cruz viewpoint, and the Muñoz Gamero Square, where there is a bronze sculpture that was inaugurated in 1920 and represents the navigator Hernando de Magallanes.
