About the ship

Built in 2010, the Stella Australis Cruise has spacious cabins and a sitting area, from where it is possible to see mountain landscapes and seascapes. It has 100 cabins, for 210 people, distributed in 3 decks: Magallanes, Tierra del Fuego and Cabo de Hornos. Besides, it has the Patagonia deck, where is the kitchen and the dining room, and the Darwin deck, from where you can have a privileged view of the landscape from the top of the ship.

Itinerary

Day 1: Punta Arenas

  • Check in between 1:00 pm and the 5:00 pm in the Arturo Prat Pier (1385 O'Higgins, Punta Arenas).
  • The embark will be at 6:00 pm and the crew will receive us lead by the Captain.
  • We will make a toast with our travel companions.
  • Then, we will set sail, navigating by the Magellan Strait.

Day 2: Ainsworth Bay – Tuckers Islets

  • We will navigate through the Almirantazgo Sound first thing in the morning.
  • The first disembark will be to begin a walk towards a beavers' dam.
  • Also, we will see a subantartic Patagonian forest.
  • If we are lucky, we will see elephant seals in the beach.
  • After lunch, we will continue the navigation towards the Tuckers Islets, where we will use the Zodiac boats.
  • We will see Magellan penguins and cormorants.

*In September and April the Zodiac excursion is replaced by a hike in the Brookes Bay.

Day 3: Pía Glacier – Avenida de los Glaciares

  • The navigation will continue by the northeast arm of the Beagle Channel.
  • We will enter and disembark in the Pía Fjord, where we will make an excursion towards the viewpoint.
  • From there we will see the glacier, which goes from the mountain chain to the sea.
  • Then, we will sail by the Avenida de los Glaciares (Glaciers Avenue).

Day 4: Cape Horn – Wulaia Bay

  • The route will take us by the Murray Channel and the Nassau Bay to arrive at the Cape Horn National Park.
  • If the weather conditions allow it, we will disembark to know this biosphere reservation, known as the End of the World.
  • In the afternoon we will arrive at the Wulaia Bay, historical site because was one of the largest settlements of the Yámanas.
  • We will see its vegetation and geography while we go to the viewpoint.
  • It will expect us a walk through the Magellan forest of lengas and ferns, among other species.

Day 5: Ushuaia

  • Our destination is Ushuaia, the most important Argentine city in Tierra del Fuego.
  • We will disembark at 9:00 am, being able to traverse the city.
