You will begin the Mezcal Route by visiting the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, a formation that originated from a natural process known as the precipitation of calcium carbonate. This process begins when water, laden with high concentrations of dissolved calcium carbonate, bursts to the surface through springs. After seeing this natural attraction, you will visit the Mitla archaeological site, famous for its facades and fretwork mosaics. You will then have time for lunch at a buffet restaurant serving typical regional dishes. Later, you will head to Teotitlán del Valle to learn about the making of wool rugs with natural pigments. Afterward, you will visit the mezcal factory, where you can learn about the mezcal production process. The tour will conclude with a visit to Tule, home to the ancient Tule Tree, which is over 2,000 years old.
