The Vila Paraíso Seringal Museum is a replica of the rubber plantation that once existed in Humaitá, a city located 675 km from Manaus. Its rooms reproduce familiar spaces from the so-called "ciclo da borracha" (rubber cycle), an economic model in the Amazon region that flourished between 1879 and 1912. The space shows how people lived on the rubber plantations, both the colonels and the northeasterners who came to the capital of Amazonas to work the latex, many with their families.
The tour begins at Marina do Davi, where you will take a regular boat that passes through several riverside communities. Once at the Rubber Baron's house, you will see artifacts such as china, a 1900 Stuttgart piano, Swiss watches, and even equipment brought from Europe that was not useful in Manaus, such as a stove used to heat the house.
You will visit different parts of the museum that will transport you back in time while learning about the history of the rubber boom on a tour that lasts about 40 minutes.
In addition to preserving the setting for the film "The Jungle," the site offers a walk through the forest, where you can observe several species of medicinal herbs and some monkeys.
