We will pick you up at your hotel to leave La Serena towards the north, to Punta de Choros cove. That way we will get closer to visit the Humboldt Penguin Reserve & Damas Island. We will begin a boat trip to Choros Island where, without disembarking, we will have the possibility to identify the different birds’ species that inhabit there, like the Humboldt penguin, cormorants and pelicans, among others. In addition, we will see sea lions, chungungos and, if we are lucky enough, bottlenose dolphins.
After that, we will go to Damas Island, where you will see the white sand beaches and clear waters. After that, we will take our boat to begin the return to La Serena, have lunch and end our tour.
Price disembark ticket in Damas Island
The disembark ticket is not included, it must be paid in cash the day of the tour, and it costs:
- Residents in Chile:
- Adult: CLP$ 4.700 per person.
- Minor (age 12 to 17): CLP$ 3.200 per person.
- Child (age 0 to 11): for free.
- Elderly people (age 60 or more): for free.
- Non-residents in Chile:
- Adult: CLP$ 10.400 per person.
- Minor (age 12 to 17): CLP$ 5.200 per person.
- Child (age 0 to 11): for free.
Between March 1 and December 15, disembarkation is possible from Thursday to Sunday, while from December 16 to February 28, disembarkation is possible from Wednesday to Sunday, provided that the maritime authority permits it.
*The pickup is made only in downtown La Serena and in the Hotel Enjoy Coquimbo. After making your booking we will indicate if it is inside the downtown pickup area. If you are staying in Coquimbo or outside downtown area, we will set a meeting point.
*Consider that, during winter, you can see less fauna, because there is the migration and nesting period.
*No charge for children up to the age of 1. Once you’ve made the booking, write at reservas@denomades.com to indicate name, passport number and nationality of the child traveling without cost.

Depends on the nesting period, because this is a species that can nest twice a year between March and December. However, in Isla Damas for sure you will see many penguins between October and April.
