We will go west from our meeting point, as if heading towards the Tyrrhenian Sea, to go on our Pisa Excursion. Surely the first thing that comes to mind is the Leaning Tower, but the truth is that the city has much more to offer. Pisa was one of the four Maritime Republics, it lost all its overseas possessions after a war with Genoa, it was sold to Florence, and it is the birthplace of Galileo Galilei. You will start the tour with a walk along the medieval walls until you reach Porta Santa Maria, from where you can see Piazza dei Miracoli, a landmark of medieval art. If you choose a guided tour, your guide will accompany you through the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in the center of the piazza, a notable example of Romanesque architecture. After touring the building, you will visit the Baptistery and Monumental Cemetery, where you can see images, sculptures, and mausoleums of notable Pisans. If you choose the all-inclusive option, you will be able to enter the Leaning Tower of Pisa, climb its staircase, and explore its corridors. Either way, you will finish the tour with time to take pictures and enjoy a gelato.
