We will begin this tour in our meeting point to go to the surroundings of the city of Arequipa. The Salinas Lagoon tour will allow us to know the Altiplano landscape from this area of southern Peru. Our first stop will be the volcano lookout point of Chiguata District. Then, we will make a stop in the town of Chiguata, where is located the traditional church of Espíritu Santo. In addition, we will have time to have breakfast in this place.
After that, we will continue our way to make a stop in the woods Queñoales and Yaretales of Pichupichu Volcano, at 13,779 feet of altitude. Then, we will reach Salinas Lagoon, a shallow waters salt flat where we will be able to see flamingos and water mirrors during the rainy season (January to March), and animals like llamas and vicuñas during the whole year. In the dry season (April to December) we will make visits to the salt extraction centers, where we will learn about this process. Of course, we will stay enough time to take pictures and enjoy the mountain landscape.
Then, we will go to the mini-volcano Lojen and the thermal baths with the same name, where we will be able to relax. After that, we will go back to Chiguata, where we will have time for lunch, and then return to Arequipa to end the activity.
