We will pick you up at your hotel very early to depart from Arequipa towards the city of Chivay, a 3-hour road trip. The Full Day Colca Canyon tour really begins upon arrival to Yanque, where we will eat breakfast. Once we have replenished our energy after the long trip and waking up early, from here we will continue on our way until reaching the Cruz del Cóndor (Cross of the Condor), a nesting site for condors with a wingspan of up to 3 meters (almost 10 feet). We will be able to tour the lookout point and observe them in flight. Then, we will continue on in our vehicle to Choquetico, Maca, and Antahuilque, a lookout point where we will be able to behold the Colca Valley in all of its splendor, as well as the pre-Inca terraces that are still used today for planting grains and other crops.
The next stop will be the thermal springs of Chacapi and relax for an hour. Next, we will go back to Chivay, where we will have lunch in a touristic restaurant (S/ 40 per person). After this, we will take our vehicle to start the trip back to Arequipa, but not without first making a few stops at the Volcano Lookout Point located at an altitude of 4,800 meters (15,748 feet), where you can enjoy a superb view of the region's surrounding volcanoes. We will also make a stop at the Cañahuas Pampa National Reserve, a wetland where vicuñas and alpacas can be spotted. Afterwards, we will not make any more stops until reaching downtown Arequipa to end our tour.
*During the visit to the the Condor’s lookout point, you will have the possibility to stay in that place or visiting the Pinchollo Lagoon, where you can watch Andean birds and a cactuses forest.
Connection Chivay – Puno
In case you have a bus ticket from Chivay to Puno departing between 12:45 pm and 1:15 pm, you can end the this tour in Chivay, what means that you will lost the last part of the tour between Chivay and Arequipa (Volcanoes Lookout Point and Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve Lookout point). This must be requested in the Additional comments box of the online booking process. The bus ticket from Chivay to Puno you must buy before in Redbus.

The canyon is beautiful and we got to see about five condors, some quite far, some about 30 meters close. They tell us seeing condors is a bit of luck since they are not there all the time. Although not described in the itinerary, there was an option to go kayaking instead of the hot springs, which was great (zip line or quad bikes options were also available). The guide Angel was nice and provided good explanations in clear Spanish and English. Breakfast was simple but great (bread, jam, tea, scrambled eggs, quinoa juice, coffee). At lunch time they take you to a restaurant that offers an all you can eat buffet for 45 soles (not bad, but I expected more from the price), which is advertised as optional but the restaurant pushes you against ordering à la carte options instead of the buffet.
