We will pick you up at your hotel in the morning to start this trip outside the city. The tour to the Red Rocks & Altiplanic Lagoons will take us through important touristic places inside the Atacama Desert. To reach the Red Rocks Lagoon, also known as Aguas Calientes Salt Flat, we will have to go up in our vehicle to 3800 meters of altitude and walk for 1 hour and 15 minutes, to see the red-colored rocks, besides some lagoons and salt flats around. The same way, we will make a stop in the Chaxa Lagoon, place where you will be able to see flamingos. Then, we will go to the area of Altiplanic Lagoons Miscanti and Miñiques, where our guide will give us some information about the flora and fauna of the place. The same way, we will pass by the town of Socaire and the Tropic of Capricorn, where we will make a stop to take pictures. After that, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama to end our tour.
*The order of the visiting places is subject to changes the same day of the tour.
*Because the snow accumulation during winter months, the access to Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons could be closed. If that’s the case, the visit to these lagoons will be replaced by the Tuyajto Lagoon.
*The pickup service included is nor carried out from/to accommodations located outside the urban area of San Pedro de Atacama, accommodations located at ayllus close to San Pedro de Atacama (Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor and Coyo) nor accommodations in the town of Toconao.

This excursion can be made every day of the year, except for January 1 and December 25.
Which is the maximum altitude reached in this excursion?
The maximum altitude reached is 4200 m. For a good acclimation, our recommendation is to eat a light meal and drink lots of water the previous days to the excursion. Because of the altitude, we recommend leaving this tour for the end of your stay in San Pedro de Atacama.
Is it allowed to swim in the visited lagoons in this excursion?
No. The lagoons visited in this tour are not suitable for swimming.
Do you have vegetarian, vegan or coeliac alternative of meals?
No. In these cases, our recommendation is that you bring your own food or snack for the excursion.
How far in advance should I book the activity?
We receive bookings until 48 hours in advance. However, we have limited spaces and always are subject to availability, so our recommendation is to make the booking as far in advance as possible.
