We will start leaving San Pedro de Atacama towards the southeast. We will travel for one hour, in which we will be able to see the color variation of the desert landscape. We will reach the entry of the Baltinache hidden lagoons, where we will be able to use the bathrooms before continuing the tour. We will follow the track that will take us by the seven lagoons that form this wonderful landscape, of which only the last one can be used for bathing. Due to the amount of salt that they have, you will experience the flotation effect like the Dead Sea. After having visited this tourist attraction in the middle of the Atacama Desert, we will begin our return, passing by the entry facilities to use the bathrooms. In the way back, we will see the sunset in the desert, before arriving to San Pedro de Atacama’s downtown.

*If you are interested in making this tour and the Astronomical Tour the same day, be organized with your itinerary because the end time of this activity could overlap with the start time of the Astronomical Tour. Consider leaving 45 minutes between the end of one tour and the beginning of the other.

*The pickup service included does not operate to nor from accommodations located outside the urban area of San Pedro de Atacama, accommodations located in ayllus near San Pedro de Atacama (Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor, and Coyo), nor accomodations in the town of Toconao.

The maximum altitude reached is similar to the one in San Pedro de Atacama (2450 m), so you do not need a previous acclimation.

This excursion can be made every day of the year, except for January 1 and December 25.

It is only allowed to swim in two of the seven lagoons of Baltinache.

We receive bookings until 48 hours in advance. However, we have limited spaces and always are subject to availability, so our recommendation is to make the booking as far in advance as possible.
What kind of vehicles are used in this activity?
The vehicle will depend on the size of the group, having a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (or similar) for 12 to 18 people.
Is it possible that the tour time could be modified?
It is possible that the tour takes maximum 1 hour more than what was planned originally, due to road conditions and/or the rhythm of the group. It is a tough road that could cause a malfunction in the vehicle, but we are prepared to give solutions as fast as possible.
